Top Tourist Attractions in Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou is home to some of the most enchanting landscapes in the world. We’ll introduce you to the best tourist attractions in Jiuzhaigou. You’ll be amazed by the natural beauty of this place.

Jiuzhaigou Valley

Located in northern Sichuan, Jiuzhaigou Valley is a magical destination, renowned for its snow-capped peaks, lush green forests, tranquil lakes and a variety of birds and animals. This valley is famous for its crystal-clear waters, which are the very essence of its landscapes. The sparkling green waters, ice-covered waterfalls, colourful forests (especially in autumn) and pristine snow-capped mountains create a unique vista, which has led to the valley being included on UNESCO’s World Natural Heritage List. The main attractions within this scenic area include Rize Valley, Shuzheng Valley and Zechawa Valley.

Huanglong National Park

Adjacent to the Jiuzhaigou Valley, Huanglong National Park is another World Natural Heritage Site. The park is famous for its colourful pools, snow-capped mountains, deep valleys and dense forests. Situated between 3,145 and 3,578 metres above sea level, at the foot of Xuebaoding, the main peak of Mount Minshan, the park features a 3.6-kilometre-long calcified ridge that resembles a golden dragon galloping through the virgin forest, hence its name. More than 3,400 pools of various colours and shapes create a spectacular landscape, known as the Jasper Lake under the sky. Huanglong is also home to endangered species such as the Sichuan giant panda and the golden snub-nosed monkey. The beauty of Huanglong is indescribable; you must see it for yourself to truly appreciate this fairy-tale land.

Muni Valley

36 km west of Songpan lies another aquatic wonder of Aba Prefecture: the Muni Valley. This valley, comprising two sub-valleys, is home to over 100 lakes and natural hot springs. Among its most spectacular sights are Zhaga Waterfall and Erdao Lake. The Muni Valley can be reached by road or on horseback from Songpan. The altitude in this valley ranges from 2,800 m at the entrance to 4,070 m at the mountain peaks.

The Muni Valley is a geological museum featuring diverse natural landscapes formed by rare karst calcification in a high, cold mountain area. The deposition of travertine sediments in the scenic area, combined with subsequent geological movements, has resulted in various travertine formations. The landscape includes travertine waterfalls, ring-shaped pools, collapsed plateau lakes, stalactites, karst caves, virgin forests, high-mountain grasslands, sulphurous springs, rare flora and fauna, Tibetan Buddhist temples and the unique customs of the Tibetan people. The valley is known for its five wonders: waterfalls, a sea of flowers, lakes, springs and stalactites.

These attractions make Jiuzhaigou County an exceptional tourist destination, brimming with natural beauty and geological wonders.
